Recognition Award

To recognise outstanding academic achievments.

There is no legal entitlement to this award.

For the academic year 2025/26 the federal ministry of women, science and research provides the university 3. 000 EUR for the recognition award. The vice rector of art and academic affairs and a jury, which also includes student representatives, will select the successful submission.

DEADLINE: Wednesday, 15 July 2026, 11:59 pm.

Please note that we cannot consider incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline!

Requirements:

  • Applicants need to be Austrian citizens, or need to hold a citizenship of an EEA country (incl. Swiss), or need to have equal status (see § 4 StudFG),
  • Applicants need to have completed their diploma/ Master's programme during the previous academic year (01.09.2025 - 31.08.2026),
  • Applicants must not exceed the number of semesters stated in their curriculum by more than two semesters (it is not possible to claim any additional semesters),
  • Applicants have to pass the first and second part of their study programme/ Bachelor's and Master's programme with distinction ("mit Auszeichnung"),
  • Applicants have to receive the best possible grade on their Diploma/ Master's Thesis.

Please submit the following documents:

  1. Confirmation of the number of semesters you have been enrolled at our university (“Studienzeitbestätigung”)
  2. Confirmation of equal status with EU/ EEA citizens, if applicable
  3. Scans of your graduation certificate (first and second diploma/ Bachelor's and Master's degree)
  4. Transcript of Records
  5. Diploma/ Master's Thesis and documentation

The festive award ceremony will take place on 9 December 2026, 2 p.m. at the following address: Museum für angewandte Kunst (MAK), Entrance: Weiskirchnerstraße 3, 1010 Wien

The federal ministry of women, science and research will issue the invitation to the ceremony and will also transfer the prize money.
