I CARE FOR YOU
Open Call · University of Arts Linz
October 27 – November 9, 2026
Who provides care? Who is relieved of the burden of care, and who is overburdened? And what does it mean when care is understood not only as a social practice, but also as an artistic, political, and institutional practice?
In the 2026–27 academic year, the University of Arts Linz will focus on the year theme of care with CONCERNING CARE – Practices and Politics of Care.
SHOW SHOW: I CARE FOR YOU brings this focus to life as an open exhibition, bringing together diverse perspectives, practices, and attitudes within the University of Arts.
We are seeking artistic works, projects, processes, fragments, research initiatives—as well as implementations and formats—that engage with care—explicitly not as a closed subject area, but as an open framework for participation.
Care can be conceived in personal, collective, political, ecological, technological, or institutional terms.
How can art make care a sensory experience? How do forms of solidarity, collaboration, and cooperation emerge? How can art and institutions provide care? And who or what is cared for—and who or what is not?
I CARE FOR YOU is an invitation to submit both existing works and new contributions. The call is intended as a polyphonic space of resonance for differences and overlaps, for existing initiatives and new alliances.
And, in times of global turmoil and dissonance, to make the commonality of voices visible.
Who can participate?
Students, faculty, alumni, and PhD fellows at the University of Arts Linz are invited to submit a work, a project, a process, or an action. We also welcome proposals for courses to be held in the exhibition space during the exhibition period.
The space should be utilized as actively as possible.
There are no restrictions regarding medium, format, or stage of production. Submissions may include individual works, collaborative projects, installations, happenings, objects, photographs, actions, videos, performances, texts, research projects, interventions, or other artistic formats.
