Transdisciplinary perspectives and performative visual politics
ART–SPACE – EXPERIENCE
What happens to architecture when its original function recedes into the background? How does our perception of a place change when space, material, light and atmosphere themselves take centre stage? And what does it mean to care for a space?
The vacant UNO Shopping centre in Linz has served as an artistic research and materials laboratory since the summer term of 2026. A place between memory and transformation, between built structure and new perception.
ALLE AREALE invites students from all disciplines to explore architecture as a sensory, social and performative construct. The focus is on the relationship between the body and space.
In the context of this year’s thematic focus, ‘CONCERNING CARE – Practices and Politics of Care’, questions of attention, responsibility and the careful handling of existing spaces come to the fore. How can we perceive architecture anew, make its stories and qualities visible, and conceive of other forms of coexistence and spatial appropriation?
We are seeking artistic approaches that engage with the spatial, atmospheric and social qualities of the site, shift familiar perspectives and open up new relationships between people, architecture and the environment.
Whether photography, video, sound, performance, installation or transdisciplinary practice – we are looking for independent artistic approaches that go beyond mere documentation.
Space does not simply exist. It emerges through perception, movement, relationships and care.
